Bridge Over Troubled Water is a 1970 single released by Simon and Garfunkel.

In 2017, it was recorded as a charity cover by various artists, in tribute to the 79 victims who lost their lives in the June 14 Grenfell tower fire tragedy.

Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne provided vocals.

Background

After he visited the site of the devastating Grenfell Tower, Simon Cowell pledged to raise money for the victims with a charity single.

Cowell gathered over fifty star vocalists to perform alongside locals on the track, which was released at 8am on Wednesday 21 June 2017. The video premiered on Wednesday evening.

Recording at the studio in London's Notting Hill, the single featured celebrities such as Pixie Lott, Robbie Williams, Leona Lewis, Craig David, Stormzy, James Blunt, Rita Ora, Dua Lipa, Brian May and Nile Rogers.

Simon also recruited X Factor protégés Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Louisa Johnson and Britain's Got Talent winner Tokio Myers.
