Saturday Night Live (abbreviated as SNL) is an American late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show that airs on NBC. One Direction has appeared on the show three times as musical guests and live skit participants. Harry Styles has appeared on the show as a musical guest, skit performer, and host. Niall Horan has appeared on the show as a musical guest and skit performer.
Premise[]
The show revolves around a series of skits parodying current American culture and politics, performed by a large and varying cast of comedians and actors. The show was created and produced by Lorne Michaels and developed by Dick Ebersol. The show premiered on NBC on October 11, 1975, under the original title of NBC's Saturday Night.
2012[]
One Direction performed "What Makes You Beautiful" and "One Thing".
They also appeared in the Fred Armisen led sketch of a Dominican talk show, 'The Manuel Ortiz Show'. They portrayed Sofia Vergara's children, Carlito (Harry), Pepito (Louis), Martito (Liam), Miguelito (Zayn) and Dick (Niall).
2013[]
One Direction performed "Story of My Life" and "Through The Dark".
2014[]
One Direction preformed "Night Changes" and "Ready to Run".
In addition to the two performances, One Direction also participated in Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong's Girlfriends Talk Show. They portrayed a high school dance team.
2017[]
In his debut performance as a solo artist, Harry Styles was the musical guest on April 15. He performed Sign Of The Times and Ever Since New York from his debut album. He also participated in two live skits, one impersonating Mick Jagger and another impersonating a civil war prisoner.

Harry made his second appearance as a solo artist on SNL and performed double duty, as a host and as a musical guest on November 16, 2019. He promoted his sophomore album, Fine Line by performing two of his singles, Lights Up and Watermelon Sugar and also performed numerous skits ranging from Harry impersonating a perverted drunk pilot to impersonating a dog whose in love with his owner
Niall Horan[]
Niall made his first appearance as a solo artist on SNL on December 14, 2019. During that he performed two of his most recent songs, "Nice to Meet Ya" and "Put a Little Love on Me", which are off of his new album. He also performed one live skit featuring Scarlett Johansson.
